The funny things they do

My "boys" are a constant source of entertainment for me! They keep me laughing with all of their crazy antics. Today's game of tennis became a new sport! I'm not quite sure what to call it.

Our family often will find some form of exercise that we all can do together- biking, hiking, surfing, to name a few. Lately we've been going to the local tennis courts. We often bring the dog, who loves to get in our way, and also fetches the tennis balls for us (when she feels like it!)!
Ben on his Landroller skates

Mitch and Lizzy take a break!
After our usual rounds, the guys start a version they created called "Speed Tennis". It's by far more active than the other rounds, and requires constant moving and switching places on the courts. (IF you want more "rules" you'll have to request them on your own!). Anyway, we played that for a while until we all got worn out.

TJ had double protection!
Ben and Mikki decided to don their roller skates and skate around the park, while I took the dog on a walk. Mitch and TJ continued to play tennis. Pretty soon we're all meandering around the courts again, when a new games starts up, only this time, it's not exactly tennis. With Ben still rolling around the tennis courts on his Landroller skates, TJ and Mitch start shooting him with the balls, and thus becomes something of a "Hit the moving target" game. Needless to say, the game caught on pretty well and everyone was laughing and running and trying to hit the balls while Ben bravely fought off his "attackers". Then Ben decided to get a racket and, while rolling, try to hit them back. We are really bad shots, fortunately and noone got hurt. But we sure did get worn out. Even Lizzy took a tired break!

Alas, a day in the life of the Greers here in sunny southern California!!

Colossians 3:23-24
"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."

The Fruits of My Labors

More to come later.
FAIREST LORD JESUS
Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nature,
O, Thou of God and mand the Son!
Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor
Thou my soul's Glory, Joy and Crown!

Fair are the meadows, Fairer still the woodlands,

Robed in the blooming garb of spring

Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer

who makes the woeful heart to sing.

Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the moonlight,

And all the twinkling starry host

Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer

than all the angels heav'n can boast.

Beautiful Savior! Lord of the nations!

Son of God and Son of Man!

Glory and Honor, Praise, Adoration

Now and Forever more be Thine!

What's in a Day

Today was one of "those" days. It wasn't a glamorous day, and not really a dull day either.

Mitch likes to get up early and get some Bible time and computer time in while it's quiet. So that's what he did. When everyone else was finally up and going, we went out for a walk/jog down to the local bridge (which happens to be a historical landmark) and back home again, just to get the blood pumping and a little exercise in before our car ride. We did some quick chores and got ourselves ready for our dentist appointments, which now includes making sure we have our passports with us. (You have to have a passport to get back into the States. ) Dental appointments don't happen very often around here, since our dentist is in Mexico, and it's usually an all-day event to get there and back. Well, today was the day! We all had our cleaning done, and a few extras for those that needed it. Pretty uneventful, excepting the long waiting line at the border. One hour, which isn't so bad. Just the inconvenience of sitting there bumper to bumper having to fight for every little inch with the other irritated drivers who want to crowd in on you. And the street venders giving you the evil eye for saying "No!" to their "deals". We made good use of our time by family talk and listening to the Wissmann's CD! We are thankful that God protects our trips there, and we're even more thankful that the traffic was light on our way home during "rush hour". Totally not usual here in southern California.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention we got gas in Mexico for about USD$3.20. Now go figure, gas on the other side of the border, the US side, was USD$3.81 to over $4.00 per gallon. Does that seem right to you? It ruffles my feathers. My sister in Oklahoma is also paying way less than ours. And many of the oil refineries are within a day's drive from us. The politics of all that is unbelievable. But I guess that's another story, another blog, some other day!!

Upon arriving home, we were met by our faithful and happy dogs, and more chores, such as watering the lawn and garden, getting the trash out for tomorrow's trash day, preparing for dinner (which included a trip to the grocery store for ingredients), then actually getting the dinner and juice ready. We try to drink a freshly-juiced vegetable drink every day. More computer work to do. And, of course, checking the emails and blogs. Now that's not really a chore, is it?! I love doing that one!!! Wish more of you would email or reply to the blogs- what's up with that?

Have any of you ever clicked on the bloggers to find a trail of people who know each other through blogging and otherwise? I am amazed at how many of you read and comment on each other's blogs. How do you meet? Are you all families or are most of you single? I relaxed last night for about 2 hours by reading a number of different posts and comments from various websites. There are some very interesting people out there. And some very interesting posts too! Not enough comments, but fun to read those that do! Bless those faithful few!

Not too much more to say for today. Hope your day was blessed!

Maybe you could reply to this post with a comment on what's your favorite way to spend the evening?
I'm looking for ideas!

A Verse for today

Psalm 92:1-2
"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord,
and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
to shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning,
and thy faithfulness each night."

Mikki

HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY, MIKKI!!

Today our youngest son turns 13 years old. No more "babies" in the house. sad sigh :(
Only young men now!

From Mom- My, how the time has flown since you were born, my son! I remember how your favorite position was to lay across my tummy when you slept as a baby! You are still my cuddly bug, and I love when you snuggle up next to me with hugs and kisses. Now you are growing into a young man, and learning to be a diligent and hard worker. You are my yardwork and gardening partner, chef-in-training, animal husbandry helper, and assistant laundry care, as well as my travelling buddy, companion and good friend!

You are also Ben's technician friend-always ready to help tear apart some tool, appliance, plumbing, electrical or whatever project, and sometimes even pretty good at putting it back together again! You are TJ's "hold the end of this" and Daddy's "go get me a____" person!

You are always up for a good game or activity, you are adventurous, fun-loving, and full of energy! Being still and quiet just isn't one of your most obvious traits yet!!

Your name means "One who is like God" and we chose this name for you on purpose. We hope that you grow in God's grace this year, and become in your heart and actions a man after God's own heart.

We love you very much! Happy Birthday to you (in four-part harmony, of course!) !!!

"Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life- in order that I may boast in the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing." Phil. 2: 14-16
